Biography
Our leader, friend, and founder of Cats At The Studios Inc. (CATS) passed away July 31st, 2020 at the age of 95.
Elyse was born in N.Y. and moved to CA in the 60s. She had a long and varied career in the entertainment industry - T.V. game show hostess, copy writer, and production coordinator to name a few. While working at Columbia Studio in the 70s, she noticed a number of feral cats on the lot. She began feeding, trapping, fixing, taming and finding homes for these cats and kittens.
In 1985, Elyse formed Cats At The Studios Inc. non-profit rescue organization. She and her volunteers would hold weekly adoption venues in the San Fernando Valley. After a full day of adoptions, she would feed feral cats at feeding stations in the valley, or trap for spay/neuter. She was tireless and dedicated to the feline community. The CATS volunteers thank her for her support and will miss her so much.

Anecdotes
Phil told me a breeder passed away and left 85 cats Exotic Shorthairs, he was cross breeding Persians, and Himalayans and he left a mess of 85 cats and Elyse worked tirelessly until she got them all re-homed.
She told me once she filled up some hipsters marijuana stash with catnip.

Elyse’s favorite color was Blue which represents both the sky and the sea and is associated with open spaces, freedom, intuition, imagination, expansiveness, inspiration, and sensitivity. Blue also represents meanings of depth, trust, loyalty, sincerity, wisdom, confidence, stability, and intelligence.
All qualities Elyse represented and personified.
It is BECAUSE Elyse and that love of CATS we all have in common, THAT I ask us to become silent and pause for a moment TO REFLECT ON her GOODNESS, to remind us that we have all accomplished more than we would HAVE ever imagined possible. We have ALL GONE above and beyond because one lady was there RELENTLESSLY every day, which inspired us. No mewing or purring, please.
